The Regulatory Authority for Waste, Energy, and Water (RAAEY) approved on October 31 the tender for the 3rd auction for investment and operational support of standalone energy storage systems (standalone batteries). The tender is expected to be published in the Government Gazette (FEK) in the coming days, officially launching the third and final phase of the auction.
Following the publication, the submission process for interested investors will commence, with a deadline of December 23.

The third auction focuses on standalone batteries with a storage duration of 4 hours (MWh/MW). The facilities will be installed in Western Macedonia and in municipalities of the Peloponnese included in the Just Development Transition Plan (Megalopolis, Tripoli, Gortynia, and Oichalia).
The total auctioned capacity amounts to 200 MW, while the total awarded capacity for the Peloponnese municipalities will not exceed 50 MW. The investment cost subsidy (CAPEX) is set at €200,000 per MW, and the maximum allowable bid price for operational support is €145,000 per MW per year.
Selected projects must be fully operational by April 30, 2026, and the connection activation request must be submitted to the System Operator by January 31, 2026. Additionally, each investor can implement projects with a total capacity of up to 225 MW across all three auctions.
